Hearing Loss in Adults

Hearing loss in adults often occurs because of aging. This condition is very common in the elderly and it may have a significant impact on your lifestyle if it is not treated using hearing solutions. Hearing impairment occurs in older people slowly over time, as many of the changes occurring within the ear may contribute to the development of hearing loss. These changes include:

  • Changes in the structure of the inner ear
  •  Damage to nerves responsible for hearing
  • Disturbances in the circulation of blood to the ear

Additional changes may lead to hearing impairment in the elderly. These changes include:

  • Diabetes
  • Family history of hearing loss
  • Some medicines
  • Loud noise
  • Smoking
